Canned food, also referred to as wet food is the most enjoyable food for a cat. Cats are not likely to overeat dry food, and if dry food is left out during the day a cat will simply use it for grazing purposes. Canned food on the other hand tends to get wolfed down in a matter of minutes. A cat would most definitely overeat wet food if given half a chance which is why it is very important to only give the correct quantity to your cat each day. “Chicken Cat Food” on the label means the food has at least 95% chicken in the product.

“Chicken Platter for Cats” (or something similar on the label) means the food has only up to 25% chicken within the product.

“Cat Food with Chicken” on the label means the food has only 3% chicken in the product and should be avoided.

These clever marketing tricks are used by manufacturers to entice and confuse customers whilst still staying within the strict guidelines of pet food production.
